Our Transatlantic Voyage on Windstar's Wind Surf

Thank you to the crew of Wind Surf Fifty-five days have passed since we stepped off Wind Surf in Cádiz, and not a day goes by that we don’t think back with gratitude and fondness. The journey from Sint Maarten across the Atlantic was more than a simple voyage - it was a passage to a new adventure we hadn’t yet fully imagined. The warmth of the crew, the quiet moments at sea, the laughter shared with fellow travellers, and the steady grace of the ship herself made it an unforgettable crossing. Wind Surf was not only a vessel but a companion, carrying us safely and beautifully across the ocean to the shores of Spain. After 14 glorious days crossing the ocean on the sailing ship Wind Surf , we made landfall not in Lisbon, Portugal as expected, but rather in Cadiz, Spain. Taking this as a sign of things meant to be, we began walking north, beginning an extraordinary adventure in its own right. We had already travelled several times between North America and Europe aboard Cunard’s Queen Mary 2 , and the previous summer had sailed north from Vancouver to Alaska aboard Queen Elizabeth . Those voyages had changed the way we thought about travelling by sea, repeatedly reminding us that an ocean was not simply the space between two destinations and that days apparently filled with nothing but water could hold birds, whales, dolphins, weather, currents, swells, changing light and entire landscapes hidden beneath the surface. Yet when we arrived in St. Maarten to board Wind Surf , we were beginning another year whose shape we could only partly anticipate.
